Buying a used BOPP line? A reassessment checklist

Why an independent view matters
A used line is rarely sold with a complete, honest picture of its condition. An independent technical reassessment — by people who have built and run these lines — turns a leap of faith into an informed decision, whether you are buying or selling.
Condition of the core line
Extruders, dies, the MDO and TDO sections, rollers, bearings and drives are where real value (or real cost) lives. Wear, past repairs and missing maintenance history all change what the line is worth.
Automation and electrical
The age of the IPC and control system, the availability of spares, and component obsolescence often decide whether a line is a bargain or a future headache. An old line with unsupported electronics can cost more to keep running than it saves.
Completeness
Slitters, metallizers, utilities, cranes, spare parts and — crucially — documentation. A line missing key ancillaries or drawings is far more expensive to re-establish than the headline price suggests.
Realistic capacity and quality
Width and nameplate output are only the start. What film grades can it actually produce, at what efficiency and waste levels, in your market? That is the number that drives your business case.
Total cost of ownership
Add dismantling, shipping, reassembly, any upgrades and missing parts to the purchase price. Only then can buyer and seller agree on a fair value.
How FMS helps
We have inspected and reassessed lines for owners and for Brückner Servtech worldwide — from single lines to complete plants in Germany, Italy, Israel and Saudi Arabia — giving each client an objective, benchmarked view before they commit.
